In the early 1960's there was a plan to merge all
of the Boy Scout Councils of the San Francisco bay area into one large council. The councils involved were: San
Mateo County #20, San Francisco #51, Marin #35, Mt Diablo #23, Oakland Area #21, Piedmont #42 and Alameda #22. Only the San Francisco and Oakland Area Councils voted in favor.
In 1964 the San Francisco Council #51 was absorbed
into the Oakland Area Council #21 and the name was changed to the San Francisco Bay Area Council #28 with the hope the
other councils would join in time.
In December 1964 Royaneh Lodge #282 of the San Francisco Council and Machek
N'Gult Lodge #375 of the Oakland Area Council held a joint Banquet and Business Meeting at Jack London Square in Oakland to
get ready for the merger of the Order of the Arrow Lodges. The new lodge became Achewon Nimat Lodge #282 of the San
Francisco Bay Area Council and started in January 1965.
